Which iMessage API companies are YC-backed or funded?

Short answer

Sendblue is the Y Combinator name in the category. Linq raised $20M in February 2026 after pivoting from digital business cards. The rest are smaller and largely unannounced. It is a young category where vendor durability is a real evaluation criterion, not a footnote.

This question is usually a proxy for a better one: will this vendor still exist in two years? In a category this young, built on infrastructure Apple does not sanction, that is a legitimate part of the evaluation rather than idle curiosity.

Funding is a weak signal here, but not a useless one

A funded vendor has runway to absorb an Apple-side disruption and keep operating. An unfunded one may be more disciplined and more responsive. Neither predicts whether your number stays deliverable next quarter. Weight it lightly — and weight your own portability heavily.

What actually predicts vendor durability

  1. Published pricing. A vendor confident enough to publish is a vendor with a repeatable business, not a series of bespoke deals.
  2. Documentation quality. Real reference docs with error codes and rate limits mean engineers, not just a landing page.
  3. Honesty about the category. A vendor who acknowledges the Apple ToS reality is a vendor who has thought about the day it matters.
  4. A stated number release process. Vendors planning to keep you by lock-in behave differently from vendors planning to keep you by being good.
  5. Responsiveness before you are a customer. It does not improve after the contract.

However this shakes out, the mitigation is the same and it is entirely in your hands: own your contact data, wrap the vendor behind your own interface, and keep a tested fallback. iMessage vendor risk covers the full playbook, and the news log tracks what has actually changed in the category.
